Trivia[]

  • The Black Jumping Spider was featured on the Today Show along with several other animatronics.
  • The Black Jumping Spider is Spirit's best selling/longest available animatronic of all time.
  • Although Spirit started selling the black Jumping Spider in 2011, it was NOT an exclusive that year and was sold on multiple other websites such as Buycostumes.com before becoming an exclusive to Spirit Halloween starting in 2012 until 2014. Starting in 2015, it was also available at other retailers such as Home Depot.
  • Black Jumping Spider’s code/item number name was ANIMT 2 in 2019, ANIM 111 in 2020, ANIM 0458 in 2021, and HL000598 in 2022.
  • The 2019 model's box is a misprint, showing it includes an adapter, even though it doesn't. Spirit fixed this by adding a sticker to the box saying "sold separately."
  • Several variants on the animatronic has been made:
  • The 2011-2015 models of this animatronic were made with a higher quality, pop up motion.
    • Since the start of 2016, the prop has decreased in quality, with cheaper and weaker springs being added on.
  • You can bend the springs forward for a faster jump.
  • It's recommended to leave the spider in the up position or to undo the springs when not in use.
  • Most 2012 models have a manufacturer error, where they are mounted on the mechanism crookedly.
  • In 2021, all three 2021 models of Jumping Spiders received new stock photos on their boxes.
  • In 2023, the Black Jumping Spider had a working name of White and Black Jumping Spider.
